Keep Washington County Beautiful (KWB) Offers activities, events, and year-round programs that focus on environmental awareness, beautification, litter reduction, and effective waste handling. Contact Heather Clever at the Chamber, 461-8004, for more information on KWB activities.
KWB coordinates the Annual Chipping of the Green, Christmas Tree Recycling event. Trees are chipped into usuable mulch rather than going to the landfill. Over 400 households participated, with 1,600 bags of mulch distributed.
KWB coordinates the Great American Clean-up to encourage community wide awareness of litter. Local litter cleanups are scheduled with over 300 volunteers participating. It's time for residents of Johnson City and Washington County to take action by cleaning up and improving their corner of the earth. KWB will provide trash bags, safety vests, signs, and gloves to all participants. We will also be joining the City of Johnson City in celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day after the cleanup at Rotary Park.
KWB and the Appalachian RC&D Council hold Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, at Freedom Hall Parking Lot "J". Bring your paints, cleaners, pesticides, etc. for disposal.
KWB coordinates the Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Spot Program.
KWB recognizes businesses for outstanding efforts in the areas of solid waste management, recycling, litter reduction, and beautification.
KWB assists with other KAB affiliates to promote and develop cleanup as Regional Public Lands Day.
